HTML:Project 1 - Home Page

Instructions: USING a text editor, compose a web page that contains at least the following features:

  • 1. A background other than white.

  • 2. A page title that contains your name that gets displayed on the browser title bar;

  • 3. A sentence containing your own "words to live by" in bold type face.

  • 4. An image of your choosing with "alt" caption.

  • 5. Two links to web sites that you like. Place these links in a bulleted list.

REMEMBER, you will be using an editor to write the HTML and a browser to view the HTML. You may NOT use Word or any other HTML-aware editor tool as the purpose of this exercise is to have you learn basic HTML structure.

You may get help from a friend, but you may not use a friend's HTML file. You must compose your own. Again, play with the HTML to create different "looks". The best way to learn is by experimenting.

Assignment: Mini-Bio

http://docs.friendscentral.org

Using your Friends' Central Google docs account, create a document with the title "My Bio" and share it with your teacher.  Your document should contain:

  • a brief description of you and your background and comfort level with technology and computers

  • a response to the idea that teenagers are getting "stupider" because of technology

  • a picture of you--set the text so it wraps around the picture

  • a table with two columns: fill out the columns with computer applications you are familiar with and your level of familiarity (for example, a student might have "Power Point" in one column and "novice" in the other)

-Additionally, please add a link to a website that you think I would enjoy visiting.

From home tonight, log on to your Friends' Central google docs account and add one more line to your document.  This is just to verify that you are able to access your Google docs from home.

Other things to try with your Google docs account: uploading a word document, downloading to word, and find & replace and other editing functions.
